Professional Service limited liability companies or PLLCs are limited liability companies comprised of individuals who have been legally authorized to provide a professional service. Some professions that MUST form as a PLLC (and not just a regular LLC/ limited liability company) include attorneys, accountants, doctors of divinity or other clergy, dentists and physicians. For single member PLLCs, that member must be licensed in the professional service being offered. If there are multiple members, each member must be licensed to provide the services of the company. Additionally, entity-specific endings are required for the entity name.
These distinctions are extremely important! Forming the wrong entity or adding members not licensed to provide the professional services of the company can have major repercussions. Do not find yourself in this situation! Questions? Concerns? Contact us today to assist you!
